Remembrance Day Poem
Let us be those who remember the veterans who fought and often died for our freedom in Canada. Add your thoughts by continuing our class poem which we will be presenting at our assembly next Friday.
As you can see, my dad is a veteran of WWII (pictured with Mayor David Miller during a Remembrance Day ceremony) so I have heard of just some of the sacrifices so many have made for us.
Here's my idea for the first line:
Many have fought and died so we can be free...
What's the next line?
It doesn't have to rhyme, but it could end with "country", "liberty", "WWIII", or "me", etc. Please feel free to revise or comment where necessary. If each person adds just 1 line, we'll be done in no time. Remember, we need to have something ready by early next week so we can finalize and rehearse so post your ideas ASAP!

may we never have WWIII
Maybe we can do an acrostic poem of remembrance day
now we live peacefully in our country
Remembrance day is here and all the sad moments have arrived
And have a life that we may live in
are we doing a rhyming poem or not?
many have fought and died so we can be free...
let us enjoy the peace given to you and me
Remembrance day is here and all the sad moments have arrived
its a time to remember the soldiers that have survived and died
in the fields where the poppies grow
lie the bodies of the soldiers below
near the crosses the wind will blow
its time to take a moment and bow
as we say thanks to veterans today
they remember dere friends from back that day
to this day, the soldiers are respected
for Canada is wat they protected.\

Excellent poem for Remembrance Day!!! I love it. Watch your spelling "dere" should be "dear" and "wat" should be "what"

Great work! I'll just make some small revisions & print it out so we can rehearse it in class.

In Flander's Fields
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flander's fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, tho poppies grow
In Flander's fields.
